HICKORY GRILLE 23, THUNDERPLEX 6 (5 inn.)

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP -- Hickory Grille (3-1) forged a four-way tie for first in the Shenango Valley Modified League Thursday night with a 23-6, 5-inning win over visiting Thunderplex (1-4) at COG 3.

Hickory Grille jumped out to a 3-0 in the bottom of the first, then broke the game open with an 18-run second inning. It is the largest one-inning outburst in the league this season. Clint Ansell helped lead the Hickory Grille attack with two doubles, a triple and three runs scored. Adam Johnston doubled twice while Jason Evakich and Steve Feigert both doubled and singled. Tom Feigert tripled and singled.

Eli Deflin went 3-for-3 while Corey Trott added a pair of hits.  Steve Feigert, Nate Banick, Trott and Deflin al scored three runs. Chuck Joseph started for Hickory Grille and pitched the first two innings with Dean Vadala firing the final three innings.

Ed Rogers (0-1) started for Thunderplex with Ryan Briggs and Lindsay Mizicko pitching in relief. Randy McConnell tripled and singled while David Harries and Mike Mattes both had a pair of singles.
