PIONEER HOME EQUITY 11, THUNDERPLEX 10

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP -- Pioneer Home Equity improved to 3-0 Tuesday night by holding on for an 11-10 win over Thunderplex (1-1) at chilly COG.

Pioneer scored four runs in the both the first and fourth innings, then tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Thunderplex slashed the lead to 11-10 in the top of the seventh with a five-run outburst, highlighted by Jared Terlecky's three-run triple. However, Pioneer pitcher Jim Kopan escaped the jam and preserved the win for starter Lynn Saternow (2-0).

John Cascio helped lead the Pioneer attack with a 4-for-4 outing, including a double and three runs scored. Mike Dye cracked three hits and scored twice while Alex Giroski scored three times. Kopan also scored twice. The top four batters in the Pioneer lineup scored 10 of the team's 11 runs.

David Harries doubled and scored three runs for Thunderplex while Ed Rogers doubled. Mike Mattes added a pair of hits while Dan "Boog" Balzic and R.A. Briggs each scored twice. Lindsey Mizicko (1-1) took the defeat for Thunderplex.
