THUNDERPLEX 12, SUNSET LANES 11 (9 inn.)

HERMITAGE -- Thunderplex (2-4) snapped its four-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 12-11, 9-inning win over host Sunset Lanes at St. Paul.

Jay Ference opened the top of the ninth with a leadoff triple to right-center and scored the eventual game-winner on Ryan Briggs' bloop single to right. Thunderplex took an 11-9 lead in the top of the eighth but Sunset Lanes rallied to tie in the home half of the eighth as Devin Kulka's groundout drove in Morgan Lloyd, tying the game.

Sunset Lanes took a 3-0 lead in the first as a two-run triple by Sims highlighted the inning. Thunderplex tied the game in the second inning, then took a 5-3 lead in the third on Ed Rogers' two-run double. Rogers scored Thunderplex's sixth run on Jared Terlecky's sacrifice fly. Sunset Lanes eventually rallied in the fifth, taking a 9-8 lead on Corey Dancak's two-run hit.

Ference scored three times for Thunderplex while Mike Mattes singled twice. Lindsay Mizicko earned the win for Thunderplex. Hank McDonald doubled and singled for Sunset Lanes. Bob Young took the pitching defeat for the hosts.

It is the first extra-inning game of the season in the Shenango Valley Modified Softball League. The game was originally scheduled for the Thunderplex in Vienna but was moved due to a scheduling conflict.
