NOTRE DAME 7, CHICCARINO'S 6
HERMITAGE -- Pat Connors, Jr. laced a bases-loaded single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh Monday night to lift Notre Dame past visiting Chiccarino's in Game One of the teams' quarterfinal-round series.
Chiccarino's led 6-3 in the top of the sixth and loaded the bases with no outs. However, winning pitcher Nate Banick escaped the jam and in the home half of the inning, Notre Dame tied the game with three unearned runs.
Rudy Banick and Jim Connors both had two hits each for Notre Dame while John Anderson doubled.
For Chiccarino's, Jared Terlecky stroked a pair of hits. Ryan Briggs took the pitching loss, allowing four earned runs in 6 2/3 innings.
