CHICCARINO'S 15, NOTRE DAME 14
SHENANGO TOWNSHIP -- Chiccarino's evened its playoff series with Notre Dame Tuesday night with a wild 15-14 win in Game Two of the teams' quarterfinal-round series at COG. Larry McConnell's two-out single in the bottom of the seventh scored Randy McConnell with the winning run.
Notre Dame jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first but Chiccarino's countered with five runs in the home half of the inning. Chiccarino's eventually took a 10-6 lead into the sixth inning but Notre Dame, sparked by a Nate Banick grand slam, reclaimed a 13-10 lead.
Chiccarino's battled back with four runs in the bottom of the sixth as Ben Mackall ripped a two-run single while Jared Terlecky and Seth Terlecky followed with RBI hits.
Jesse Polite's two-out, run-scoring single in the top of the seventh tied the game at 14.
Larry McConnell also doubled for Chiccarino's while Mackall and Jared Terlecky both singled twice. Phil Ciprian and Keith Regula both doubled and singled while Kevin Faber scored three runs. Ryan Briggs pitched and received the win.
For Notre Dame, Chris Clark homered while Pat Connors, Sr. collected three hits. John Anderson and Polite both had two hits each. Pat Connors, Jr. pitched six innings while Banick pitched the seventh.
